Dundee United boss right behind Dark Blues’ bid for title glory

Jackie McNamara is hoping Dundee United’s neighbours across the road can seal promotion at Dens on Saturday.
If the Dark Blues can secure at least a point against Dumbarton in front of what will be a sell-out crowd, then they will be crowned Championship title winners.
And McNamara believes if they are, it will be great for United next season with the return of the hotly contested city derbies and a certain famous short walk from Tannadice to Dens on match day.
The manager said: “I hope Dundee can make it over the finishing line. I’ve always stated I would like them to be in the top league.
“We’ve missed the derbies this season and everything that goes with them and it would be good for the city to have them back next season.
“I’m hoping they can do the business. At the moment, the Aberdeen and St Johnstone fixtures are our two kind of derby games but it’s not quite the same and I enjoyed the experience last season of walking up the road to a derby match!
“There’s a lot more pressure and everything else but I think it’s healthy and good for both sets of fans and the people of the city.”
