East Fife manager Gary Naysmith is hoping that an expectant home crowd will put pressure on hosts Ayr United and allow his men to avoid automatic relegation and book their place in the play-offs.
Naysmith said: “This is a huge game for us and for Ayr United but for differing reasons. They have been in the top four all season but have still to clinch their play-off place. They have cut their admission prices and are looking to get a big crowd backing them to see them do it against us.”
“We have to hope that it actually adds pressure on to them and the longer the game goes on without a breakthrough the better our chances are of pulling off a win.”
Naysmith added: “I have confidence that my players can get the three points as during my time in charge we have gone to Dunfermline and to Forfar in difficult circumstances and won.
“The players have worked really hard for me and we could moan about bad luck and poor fortune over the season but we are where we are.”
“None of that matters anymore and we simply have to win at Ayr. If we do then we are safe no matter what.”
The former Scotland internationalist will finalise his side after late checks on Kevin Rutkiewicz, Scott Durie and Lewis Barr. Injuries have ruled out Ross Brown and Gary Fisher.
Ayr United have a full squad to choose from with player-manager Mark Roberts saying: “We have plenty to play for and so do East Fife.
“If it was down to ability I am sure we would win as we have done in the games between us this season but that is not the case. The team that wins it will be the one with the most desire.”
