Yes campaigners prepare for their ‘Super Saturday’ in Dunfermline
ByLeeza Clark
The first ever mass canvass event for the Yes campaign in Fife will be happening in Dunfermline today.
Known as a Super Saturday, the event aims to bring together hundreds of Yes supporters from across the region to spread the word about independence.
It will focus on the Abbeyview area of the town and has been jointly organised by Councillor Neale Hanvey and Kirkcaldy Yes activist Marie Penman.
They were inspired to organise the event after hearing about a similar day in Edinburgh.
“Yes campaigners in Edinburgh decided to get together one Saturday for a mass canvassing event, knocking on doors, handing out leaflets and just answering people’s questions about the referendum,” said Marie.
“At their last Super Saturday, they had 212 people turn up. We don’t want to get all competitive but I reckon Fife can beat that this weekend.”
Super Saturday is open to anyone interested in joining the Yes campaign and starts at 11am in Abbeyview Community Centre.
Participants are advised to bring a clipboard and a packed lunch, with all other materials provided.
