Perth man attacked woman’s car with baseball bat after nappies were put in his bin

A man hit a woman’s car 10 times with a baseball bat in an “infantile” gesture because some nappies had been put in his bin.
Perth Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday that the woman and her partner had a baby. As a result, the couple had “a lot” of disposable items.
Depute fiscal Chris McIntosh said there were “accusations” of some rubbish being put in James McMeekin’s wheelie bin.
“At 10.30pm, witnesses saw the accused strike the complainer’s car 10 times with a baseball bat,” he said.
“McMeekin was shouting something when he smashed the car.”
Mr McIntosh added the woman estimated that the damage to her car amounted to around £1,400.
Solicitor Paul Ralph, defending, described his client’s actions as “infantile”.
McMeekin, 50, of Simpson Square, Perth, admitted that on July 4 last year at the same address he repeatedly struck and damaged a car with a baseball bat.
He was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and to pay the woman £450 compensation.
