An Angus man kicked and punched another man outside a hospital where they both had appointments.
Paul Mowatt, 33, squared up to a man he knew outside Whitehills health centre in Forfar on January 27 before assaulting him.
He appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court for sentencing on Thursday after admitting pushing the male on the body, kicking him on the face and head, and punching him on the face and head to injury, while on bail.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said: “The complainer arrives at 3.30pm, goes to the reception, books himself in and goes outside to make a phone call at about 4pm.
“He hears a voice behind me saying ‘I’m not scared of you’. He turns round and says ‘who are you like?’ and the accused punches him on the right ear.”
The scuffle was captured on CCTV.
The complainer sustained a cut hand and swelling and bruising on the right side of his face.
Sheriff Kevin Veal said: “First, this was unprovoked, second it took place at a hospital allied to the fact he was kicking someone on the face and head this is unacceptable.”
Mowatt, of Goosecroft, Forfar, was given a restriction of liberty order for six months with a curfew of 7pm-7am, and ordered to pay £200 compensation.
