Alex Salmond has agreed to take part in a public discussion on independence at Dundee University.
The First Minister is the most high-profile politician yet to appear in the series of talks organised by the university’s 5 Million Questions programme, which is exploring the pros and cons of Scotland leaving the UK.
“We are delighted to confirm the First Minister is joining our series of public conversations, which have featured the senior figures from all sides of the referendum debate,” said Michael Marra, director of 5 Million Questions.
“The aim is to strip out much of the partisanship of the debate and seek the answers that the people of Scotland want before making up their mind which way to vote.
“We will continue to do this in coming months as more politicians and campaigners from both sides come here and put forth their arguments for or against independence.”
Mr Salmond will appear on June 3, two weeks after the previously announced visit by Better Together campaign leader Alistair Darling.
All events take place at the university’s Dalhousie Building, Hawkhill.
