Status Quo fans have been warned to avoid buying tickets from touts at the band’s sell-out Montrose gig.
Touts are already trying to sell tickets for the May 23 gig at inflated prices online due to high demand from Quo fans.
Single £37.50 tickets are being sold for £50 on Gumtree, with a pair of tickets going for as much as £150.
Touts are also expected to see the sold-out gig as an opportunity to sell tickets outside the venue to desperate fans.
The tout warning comes in the wake of a Courier investigation which is highlighting concert ticket prices and booking fees.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ticket Abuse has published a report urging the Government to regulate second-hand ticket sales.
MoFest events team LCC Live is now urging fans without tickets not to buy them from touts or risk being left disappointed.
A spokesperson said: “Proceed straight to the ticket scanners if you have a ticket. Do not buy tickets from touts outside the arena.
“All tickets and vouchers are individually barcoded and you may find that the ticket you have been sold by them has been cancelled.”
The Quo will rock to 4,500 people to kick off a weekend of live music which will take place across Montrose.
Montrose Music Festival, or MoFest as it has become known, has been running for seven years over which time it has attracted acts such as Toploader, Eddi Reader, Deacon Blue and the Proclaimers.
The rest of the weekend’s entertainment is free of charge with a range of bands, of all styles and genres, playing at a number of venues in the town.
MoFest chairman David Paton said: “This is our seventh year and it is shaping up to be our biggest yet with Status Quo the headline act, supported by the Holy Ghosts.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the demand for tickets for Status Quo, and to have sold out in three days was beyond our expectations.
“We’ve also got lots of new acts keeping the 2014 line-up fresh and eclectic as well as some familiar faces.”
A hundred acts will perform at MoFest including Ex-Seahorses singer Chris Helme, another coup for the event.
Buffalo Soldiers, Headroom, Sonnet65, The Graham Brown Band and The Last Orders also join the line-up along with a number of DJ acts including Rossco and Moono and Mojo.
Mr Paton added: “It’s been tough sifting through more than 400 applications but we’re sure we’re bringing the very best selection of acts to Montrose.”
