Mystery surrounds the identity of a woman who died after falling from the eighth floor of a block of flats on Saturday morning.
A member of the public saw her jump from the window of Hilltown Court and called emergency services shortly before 10am.
Police and ambulances rushed to the scene but were unable to save the woman.
The owner of the eighth-floor flat was shocked and distressed by what had happened. He said he had never seen her until she knocked on his door that morning.
He said: “I had never seen her before but she came to my door and said she was moving in downstairs.
“She wanted to know how the windows worked so I showed her.
“Then I went to the toilet and as I came back all I saw was her disappearing out the window.”
The man said he then went downstairs to see police already at the scene, covering the body with a blanket and erecting a tent around it.
He estimated the woman to be in her fifties but could not be sure.
He said: “She is nothing to do with me. I don’t know her from Adam or Eve. She just appeared at my door and now she’s dead.
“I don’t know what was going through her head.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland’s Tayside Division said: “About 9.55am, a member of the public reported seeing a person jump from a window at Hilltown Court, Dundee.
“Police immediately attended and on arrival found a person who had unfortunately sustained fatal injuries.
“There are no suspicious circumstances in relation to this incident and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said they also received a call from a member of the public.
He said: “We attended with two vehicles but did not transport anyone to hospital.”
Police inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading to the incident and they are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 101 or by speaking to any officer.
