Braemar Night ended in cells for drunk Blairgowrie teenager

High spirits and excess alcohol led to a night in custody for a Perthshire teenager.

During the Braemar Night celebrations in Blairgowrie on September 7 last year, families were left “offended” by Lee Sharp’s increasingly erratic behaviour.

Perth Sheriff Court heard he was spotted shouting, swearing and “flailing his arms around aggressively”, despite being surrounded by parents with young children.

As a result, police stepped in, advising the 18-year-old to calm down.

Sharp, of Macdonald Crescent in Blairgowrie, ignored their warnings and they attempted to arrest him.

He refused to comply, lashing out with his arms in a bid to break free, but was eventually detained and taken to Dundee.

Defence agent David Holmes said his client was “intoxicated” by 9pm and took umbrage at being “picked out” by police.

Sharp was fined £300 after admitting that on September 7, at the Wellmeadow, he resisted, obstructed or hindered two officers by attempting to prevent them applying handcuffs, lashing out aggressively with his arms and attempting to break free of their grip.
