Brian Martin torched the Garland Place block after being thrown out of a nearby homeless hostel for drinking and having a woman in his room. Fifteen people had to be rescued by firefighters during the blaze which destroyed the entire top half of the building. Martin will be sentenced next month. For full coverage of the trial, and the stories of the people whose lives it disrupted, see Wednesday’s Courier.
