Investigation into Fife cases of E coli continuing

NHS Fife’s public health department is continuing to investigate an outbreak of confirmed and suspected cases of E coli O157.
There are now eight confirmed and 11 suspected cases of the infection, associated with Khushi’s Indian Restaurant in Dunfermline. All are recovering from the infection at home.
Khushi’s continues to cooperate fully with Fife Council Environmental Health and has reopened following deep-cleaning and other public health measures, which were required to be put in place.
Dr Margaret Hannah, consultant in public health medicine at NHS Fife, said: “As E coli O157 can be extremely serious, it is encouraging that increasing numbers of people displaying symptoms of the infection are taking proactive steps to contact NHS 24 or their GP.”
A spokesperson for Khushi’s said: “We would like to apologise to our guests for any inconvenience caused by the closure and wish those affected a very speedy recovery.”
