An Angus cyclist rode his bike between lanes in the face of oncoming traffic under the influence of mephedrone, a court has heard.
Jordan Henderson, 18, appeared at Forfar on deferred sentence for an offence on October 14 last year.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said he was seen by the occupants of several vehicles on Arbroath Road, “swerving” into the path of oncoming cars.
Henderson, formerly of Forfar and an inmate of YOI Polmont, was challenged by a passing motorist who rolled down his window to tell him to get off the road.
The court heard that Henderson produced a metal bar from his jacket and brandished it at the man, who had left his car to “defuse” the situation.
The man drove to Forfar Police Station, after which officers traced and detained Henderson.
Defence agent Nick Markowski said his client had been drinking heavily at the time and was also under the influence of M-Cat.
Henderson has been detained at the young offenders’ institute since April 29 on another matter. Sheriff Valerie Johnston sentenced Henderson to 72 days in detention.
