A man who falsely claimed almost £19,000 in benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions and Dundee City Council had sentence deferred at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Clifford Adam Thomas Guyan, 48, of Crescent Lane in Dundee, admitted two charges under the Social Security Administration Act of claiming benefits to which he was not entitled, as he had not declared that he had more than the allowed amount of cash in his bank account.
He admitted that between June 20 2008 and July 17 2012, at 3 Crescent Lane, he obtained £13,438.85 in Jobseeker’s Allowance, to which he was not entitled.
He also admitted that between June 23 2008 and December 20 2009, at the same address, he obtained housing benefit amounting to £5,544.93, to which he was not entitled.
Depute fiscal Charmaine Gilmartin said the Crown was seeking a confiscation order against Guyan and Sheriff Tom Hughes granted the motion.
A hearing was set down for July 2 at Dundee Sheriff Court and sentence on Guyan was deferred until that date. He was ordained to appear then.
