Work begins on £250,000 Arbroath retail park expansion

Work is under way on the latest £250,000 expansion of Arbroath’s Westway retail park.
A gap site between B&Q and the KFC fast food outlet is the focus for the new stage of work, which will lead to the creation of a state-of-the-art four-lane automated car wash in a project that could create eight to 10 new jobs for the town.
Carswell Properties Ltd has just embarked on the work at the retail park, which was the site of a long-running battle for an Asda store.
John Carswell of the company said the touchless 24-hour car wash would be one of the first of its kind it Tayside, with plans for a car sales and valet area on the site.
“We are also looking at an exciting fast-food concept and are in talks in relation to that,” he added.
McDonalds and KFC already sit opposite each other at the entrance to the retail park.
“We have had the permission for this for some time and are now glad to get it started, hopefully with a view to getting things operational in late summer or early autumn,” continued Mr Carswell.
“It is quite a large site overall and hopefully we are looking at eight to 10 jobs once it is up and running.”
