Provost Jim Leishman has given a million thanks to some Fife fundraisers.
He recognised Kirkcaldy Local Committee’s “incredible contribution” raising £1 million to aid Cancer Research UK’s pioneering work at a civic reception in Kirkcaldy Town House.
The committee was formed in 1956 by Bertie Lockhart and its members have since worked tirelessly in their community to raise funds for the charity.
The event was attended by committee members past and present and their families, regular donators Lundin Ladies Golf Club and Dysart Post Office, and head of volunteer fundraising for Cancer Research UK, Simon O’Leary.
Local fundraising manager Sarah Johnston said: “Cancer Research UK relies on people like the Kirkcaldy Local Committee to raise funds for its pioneering research.
“We are extremely grateful to have the support and dedication from this wonderful group of people and the money they have raised will help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured, and ensure more tomorrows for more people.”
