Dundee will formally unveil Kevin Thomson and Scott Bain as their latest new signings at Dens this lunchtime.

Dark Blues boss Paul Hartley admitted last week that he was keen to bolster his squad sooner rather than later and both players have been heavily linked with a move to the City of Discovery.

However, the loose ends were only tied up on Thursday night to allow the players to be introduced to the media today.

Midfielder Thomson, who has previously played for Rangers, Middlesbrough as well as Scotland, left Hibs this week after what was his second spell at Easter Road following the Edinburgh side’s relegation in the play-off final against Hamilton.

The 29-year-old, who has twice been the subject of £2 million transfers in his career, had found himself frozen out at Leith in recent months.

However, earlier this week, he received a ringing endorsement from Scotland skipper and former team-mate Scott Brown who insisted that if Thomson had been played by Terry Butcher, Hibs would have escaped the drop.

Bain has left Alloa to join up once again with his former Wasps boss Hartley and is expected to provide stiff competition for first-choice keeper Kyle Letheren.

Alloa will be entitled to a small compensation fee for 22-year-old Bain.

Dundee had already tied up former Falkirk attacker Phil Roberts as well as ex-Cowdenbeath striker Greg Stewart and Hartley is keen to make more new signings.
