A Tayside nurse is to face allegations of misconduct at an NMC hearing later this month.
Lesley Fernie is alleged to have failed to properly monitor a patient’s respiratory rates on or around September 27 and 28 2011.
She is also said to have failed to record respiratory rates, oxygen saturation, oxygen flow rate and alertness level for the patient and incorrectly filled out paperwork, dishonestly creating a false record of care.
It is further alleged she failed to give the patient a prescribed intravenous dose of saline and, on September 29 that year, incorrectly prepared medication and did so without adequate supervision.
Fernie faces further allegations in relation to two other patients, where it is said on or around October 12 2011 she failed to record the patients’ consent to termination of pregnancy and did not check their identities prior to sending them to theatre.
It is also said she failed to take or record one of the patient’s oxygen and heart rate before surgery and took baseline readings for the other patient after giving them medication.
The fifth charge against Fernie alleges that, on or around October 12 that year, she did not request a discharge script for a patient and failed to give an adequate or accurate handover of patients in her care as she did not use correct terminology and gave unspecific details of the amount of blood drained from a patient.
