Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with a gang assault in Glenrothes.
A 17-year-old, an 18-year-old and two 19-year-old men have been taken into custody after a disturbance in Woodside Road at the weekend which left three men in their 50s in hospital.
Two of the men have since been released from Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy following treatment, but a 50-year-old man remains in a critical condition in Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital.
Police Scotland said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal. The teenagers are expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
The force made an urgent appeal for witnesses and officers conducted door-to-door inquiries after the incident, which happened at around 1am on Sunday.
Detective Inspector Colin Robson of Fife Division Crime Management, who is leading the investigation, said: “We received a very good response to our appeal for information and would like to thank the public for their considerable assistance.
“Police Scotland will continue to work hard to identify those responsible for bringing violence to our streets and do our utmost to keep people safe.”
