No action against Perth teacher accused of assaulting pupil

The headteacher of a Perth school accused of assaulting a pupil is not to face prosecution.
The woman stepped down from her role while the matter was investigated. Whether she will now return to her post remains unclear.
Following the allegation in January, the teacher moved to non-teaching duties with the council and an acting head took over running the school.
The acting head’s name remains on the school’s website and Perth and Kinross Council declined to say whether the original head will be reinstated now the allegation is no longer hanging over her.
“We do not comment on individual cases,” was all a council spokesman would say on the matter.
The Crown Office confirmed that, following a review of the information placed before them by the police, they would not be pursuing a prosecution.
“The police made the procurator fiscal aware of an alleged incident at a primary school in Perth and Kinross from January 2014, which involved a female teacher,” said a Crown Office spokesperson.
“The procurator fiscal has instructed no further police action be taken and the matter is now closed.”
