St Johnstone will definitely not be facing former European rivals Eskisehirspor in the Europa League.
The Turks were originally in the draw to be made in Switzerland a week on Monday, raising the prospect of a reunion with the side Saints played two years ago.
However, Eskisehirspor have been suspended from the competition along with fellow Turkish top-flight team Sivasspor after being found guilty by Uefa of match-fixing in season 2011-12.
Both sides were implicated in deliberately losing to Fenerbahce in domestic competition and Uefa rules demand clubs are disqualified from the Champions League or Europa League if match-fixing is proved.
They can appeal against the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport within a 10-day period but it is expected that Karabukspor or Bursaspor will replace them in the draw.
Meanwhile, Scottish Cup goal hero Steven Anderson’s testimonial celebrations got off to a great start with more than 500 players taking part in a seven-a-side tournament at McDiarmid Park.
This was the first in a series of events to mark his 10 years with Saints.
Anderson said: “I’m delighted my testimonial year has got off to such a good start. And, who knows, maybe one day some of the young kids on show will be St Johnstone players.
“My testimonial committee organised everything down to a tee, and I was very impressed with the standard of play, especially from some of the youngsters.”
