SNP Dundee East MP Stewart Hosie has claimed that good things were happening in the city in spite of the policies of the UK Government.
During a TV interview with the BBC he said: “Almost every single piece of funding that comes into the city comes from the Scottish Parliament run by the SNP since 2007.
“You know I’m not going to criticise the good things other parties or governments or councils have done.
“But let’s not pretend the things happening in Dundee are because of the UK, they’re in spite of Westminster policies.”
Scotland Office minister David Mundell described that as a “staggering statement” and said Mr Hosie should publicly recognise the positive things that the UK Government has done for Dundee.
“He seems to be blind to Friday’s announcement which secured an air link between Dundee and London Stansted for the next two years.
“He also seems to be ignorant to over £9 million of funding for the V&A museum coming from the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has provided billions of pounds for projects across the UK.”
