Councillor ‘confident’ Scone homes ready for tenants soon

Work on a council house development in Scone has resumed after a seven-month break.
The construction of eight flats and two houses stopped in November after the original developer went into receivership.
Hadden Construction has since been appointed by Perth and Kinross Council to complete the development and work is expected to be finished by the middle of August.
Housing and health convener Dave Doogan said he was “confident” the project will be delivered as soon as possible.
He added: “Due to unfortunate circumstances we have not been able to deliver these properties in the expected timeframe.
“When projects such as this have to be stopped for any reason, it is unfortunate as it impacts not only on the council’s housing plans, but also on the tenants due to receive the properties.
“These properties are intended to support people with mental health problems, to help them with the transition from hospital to living an independent life in local communities.
“With the completion of these properties later this year, the council will be able to put this important service in place to support those in our community who need it most.”
