No decision has been taken on where the headquarters of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) will be permanently sited, a meeting in Perth has heard.
The issue was raised at the first annual review of the SFRS since the national service was formed 12 months ago when eight regions were merged.
Councillor Douglas Pover, convener of the community safety committee, posed the question at the meeting in Perth Museum and Art Gallery.
The temporary headquarters is in Perth but board chairman Pat Watters said the long-term future still had to be decided.
“It is still a matter we are considering as a board. No decision has been made,” Mr Watters told the meeting.
“We are looking at the centre of Scotland and we are in discussion with Perth and Kinross, Stirling and Falkirk councils.”
Mr Watters said it was an important decision but it remained to be seen whether it would be a new build or they would utilise an existing building.
The event was hosted by Minister for Community Safety and Legal Affairs, Roseanna Cunningham, and was open to the public.
She praised the board and service for the achievements of the first year.
“Some big things have happened and I think the fire and rescue service faced a lot of challenges, coming through with flying colours,” said the MSP.
The well-attended meeting heard that savings of £22 million had been achieved in the first year.
