The diocese of Dunkeld has welcomed its newest priest, Father Michael Carrie.
He was ordained by Bishop Stephen Robson at St Andrew’s Cathedral in Dundee.
The ceremony was watched by Father Michael’s parents Frank and Marion and his brother Frankie who had flown from Australia.
Father Michael was born in Dundee in 1975 and was a pupil at St Clement’s Primary School and Lawside Academy.
After attending Southampton’s La Sainte Union College of Higher Education, where he studied for his degree in history and geography, Father Michael began his studies for the priesthood at Scotus College in Bearsden.
He completed four years of studies before taking some time out, which he spent working in community pharmacy. In 2009 he returned to seminary, this time at the Pontifical Scots College in Rome.
He was ordained deacon last summer by Bishop Emeritus Vincent Logan and has spent the last year ministering in the parishes of the Immaculate Conception, Dundee, and St John the Baptist’s, Perth.
