A sheriff has placed an Arbroath man on a four-month good behaviour order after expressing concern at the accused’s second domestic offence.
Martin Greer, 24, of Dickmont Place, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court on Monday where he admitted behaving in a threatening manner at a house on Emislaw Drive, Arbroath, on April 12 and struggling with a woman.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy told the court the accused and his girlfriend had broken up the day before, but she then invited him round for a drink to talk things over the following evening.
They were joined by other parties but an argument broke out between the pair.
Defence agent Billy Rennie said: “Neither party covered themselves in glory during the course of the evening.”
Sheriff Pino Di Emidio told Greer: “The particular circumstances of this incident may not be as serious as some others before the court, but it is of considerable concern that you have a conviction in 2011 that the court would also treat as being domestic.
“I want to see whether it is the case that things have calmed down and the trend that for three years you have not come to the attention of the police continues.”
Sentence was deferred until October 23.
