Allan Moore has been appointed as the new manager of Arbroath.
The former Morton and Stirling Albion boss won over the Lichties’ board during an impressive interview and they quickly made up their collective mind he was the man they wanted to take the club forward.
Moore will meet his new squad of players at training in Perth tonight then will begin preparing for a formidable early challenge the visit of Aberdeen on Saturday for a friendly.
He will piece together his own backroom team, with Todd Lumsden as his number two. That means Stewart Petrie, who served as former gaffer Paul Sheerin’s assistant, will be leaving Gayfield.
Arbroath chairman John Christison was keen to make an appointment as quickly as possible, given that the new League Two season is already looming large and signings have to be made.
“We are delighted that Allan has agreed to come on board,” said Christison.
“He showed infectious enthusiasm for the job when we spoke to him. Allan will meet the players at training tomorrow and I know he is looking forward to that.
“I would also like to thank Stewart for what he has done for Arbroath and for stepping in as he did after Paul left. We are very grateful.”
