Greig Spence rejects Raith Rovers offer to return to Alloa

Raith Rovers striker Greig Spence has rejected the chance of a contract extension at Stark’s Park and has signed for Championship rivals Alloa for the second time.
The 21-year-old front man scored 10 goals in 33 appearances for Grant Murray’s side last season including a memorable hat-trick in a Fife derby against Cowdenbeath and the manager was keen to see him extend his stay.
However, Wasps boss Barry Smith has lured him back to Recreation Park and the manager said: “Greig is very highly thought of at the club and he has picked up a lot of experience for a 21-year-old.
“He wants to be a regular starter this season and he has the chance to do that here.”
Spence initially left Alloa in 2009 for Celtic for a six-figure fee.
He struggled to make the breakthrough at Parkhead, though, and went out on loan to Hamilton before being snapped up by Rovers last season.
His loss will be a blow to Raith but Murray has already added to his striking options this summer with the capture of Christian Nade, as well as Mark Stewart.
