An Angus girl who was found unconscious during a family holiday to Spain has shown signs of emerging from a coma after lying in hospital for six days.
Arbroath four-year-old Cally Simpson was found on Tuesday at the bottom of a swimming pool in the holiday resort of Salou, where she was with her dad Steven and gran Wendy.
Following a battle against airline strikes, Kate Miller flew to Barcelona to be at her daughter’s bedside on Thursday.
And medical staff reported the girl started to regain consciousness on Sunday.
Mr Simpson wrote on the Facebook page Saving Cally Simpson, which was set up to update friends and family on Cally’s condition: “Just spoke to Cally’s nurse.
“She looks like she’s wakening up.
“People there is a god up there.
“I knew my baby was strong mummy’s with her now.”
The news, which the family have welcomed, follows a cardiologist’s update that Cally’s heart health showed signs of improvement.
And supporters of the family organised a bucket collection at Saturday afternoon’s football game between Arbroath and visitors Aberdeen.
Nikki Webster organised a squad of willing volunteers to help pay for potentially costly travel for Cally’s family during their ordeal, and also set up a Paypal account to accept donations.
