Forfar boss Dick Campbell has expressed his delight after snapping up frontman Dale Hilson on a one-year deal.
The 21-year-old was released by Dundee United at the end of last season and was widely expected to sign for another full-time club, with Falkirk believed to be interested in him.
He has decided to return to Station Park having previously spent four loan spells with Forfar, racking up more than 100 appearances for the Loons.
Campbell said: “I am absolutely delighted to get Dale back to the club on a permanent basis.
“He has done really well for us in the past and after his release by Dundee United it was no surprise that there were a lot of clubs interested in signing him.
“However, we have pushed the boat out and it is great that we have managed to bring him back to the club.
“I have been delighted with the business we have done this week. I believe Derek Young is a magnificent signing for us, which is why I gave him a two-year deal.
“There were four or five other clubs interested in him. He has played at the highest level and has never been part-time before so it is a big coup for Forfar.
“I was also delighted to get Danny Denholm in earlier this summer so I am pleased with the way we are shaping up for the new season.”
