Dunfermline is being transported back to medieval times, as the 2014 Bruce Festival beckons.
The free festival will be held this weekend to coincide with Robert the Bruce’s birthday.
Famous for its food, activities and re-enactments, the festival will again be hosted in Pittencrieff Park against the backdrop of the King’s final resting place, Dunfermline Abbey.
With Scotland celebrating this year as Homecoming, the Bruce Festival is set to be one of the biggest yet, as it recognises the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.
Kicking off the festivities will be the male voices of Capella Nova, who are set to host an evening of Music for the Bruce on Friday in Dunfermline Abbey.
The Knights Royal will lead visitors in a procession through the streets of the historical town to Pittencrieff Park to mark the ceremonial opening of the festival at 11am on Saturday.
Another major highlight of the two-day festival is the ferocious fighting of the battle re-enactments with noble steeds and falconry displays.
