A motorist has been jailed for 10 months after punching a spectacle-wearing man in row over parking.
George Collins left his victim with permanent scarring after attacking him on Perth’s South William Street on May 19.
The pair had become embroiled in a spat after Collins almost reversed his 4×4 into a car being driven by the man’s wife, causing her to take evasive action.
Depute fiscal Rebecca Kynaston told Perth Sheriff Court that the man required stiches for a gash near his eye and a further laceration needed surgical glue.
Solicitor John Adams, defending, said Collins had lashed out after a heated exchange of words but was now seeking assistance from social workers.
Collins, of High Street, Perth, had earlier admitted punching the man, causing him to fall to the ground. He also admitted that on the same date he drove without a licence or insurance.
Noting that Collins had several previous convictions for acts of violence, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis imposed a custodial sentence.
Additionally, the 26-year-old was banned from the road for 12 months.
