Raith Rovers expected to land Ross Perry

The on-off transfer saga between Raith Rovers and Ross Perry is expected to come to an end with the former Rangers defender set to sign a deal ahead of kick-off against Inverness CaledonianThistle at Stark’s Park.

Perry was at the game with St Johnstone last weekend and had been tipped to sign for the Kirkcaldy men.

However, the deal stalled when he was only offered a one-month contract to help cover for injuries.

The 24-year-old wanted a deal until January at least and talks resumed on Thursday after Raith’s disappointing 4-0 home defeat by York City and the paperwork on a six-month deal is expected to be concluded which will allow Perry to feature against the Highlanders.

Manager Grant Murray saying: “There is a chance that we can get that one sorted but we are not over the line yet.”

Murray is also ensuring that there is no sense of panic after the York game as he explained: “It was a very disappointing performance but it is better to have that now than later in the season. We will learn from it and that is the purpose of pre-season friendlies as I remember getting beat 5-0 by Hearts last season and then starting well.

“You do not want to lose easy goals in any game and that is what happened against York but we have to remember that we looked a good side against St Johnstone last Saturday.”

As well as having Perry potentially in his line-up, Murray should have new signings Kevin Cuthbert and Martin Scott available after injury. However, Craig Barr and Dougie Hill remain out and Kevin Moon is struggling with a knock.
