A Fife woman has been cleared of assaulting her former cage-fighting husband in a Leven street.
Melanie Lingwood, 44, from Kirkcaldy, was alleged to have attacked her estranged husband Colin while he worked as a bouncer outside McPhail’s bar in Leven.
Mrs Lingwood had denied assaulting Mr Lingwood by punching him on the head, repeatedly striking him on the head with a key and biting him on the body, all to his injury.
At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Sheriff Grant McCulloch found her not guilty of committing the attack on Saturday October 26 last year.
However, he found her guilty of committing a breach of the peace through behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting.
Sheriff McCulloch heard that the couple had separated at the beginning of October and Mrs Lingwood had driven to her husband’s work to confront him over suggestions he had been having an affair.
Two passing police officers grabbed Mr Lingwood and pulled him out of the car when the alleged assault was supposed to be taking place.
Sheriff McCulloch admonished Mrs Lingwood on the charge of breach of the peace.
