Hull City finally match Dundee United’s Andrew Robertson valuation
ByIan Roache
Dundee United defender Andy Robertson is on his way to Hull City for a fee worth in the region of £3 million.
The deal is not completely done but the main business has been agreed by both parties and the Scotland star will start the new season in the Barclays Premier League.
Tannadice chairman Stephen Thompson’s valuation of the former Queen’s Park defender was finally met by the Tigers on Thursday night after four rejected bids.
Details need to be ironed out but everything could be tied up as soon as today and, if so, Robertson would be eligible to make his debut for Hull when they face Slovakians AS Trencin in the Europa League next week.
It is a brilliant deal for the player, who can look forward to facing the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
It is also a superb bit of wheeling and dealing from Thompson, who has now secured around £6 million for both Robertson and Ryan Gauld, who left for Sporting Lisbon at the start of the month.
There will be a big gap for manager Jackie McNamara to fill at left-back but this was the kind of cash that the Tangerines just couldn’t turn down.
