Montrose manager George Shields is looking for a better performance from his men despite their 1-0 success at Elgin at the weekend.
Shields said: “We have actually played better this season and been beaten so, whilst it was good to win, we can improve. We were a bit nave near the end of the game when Elgin went all out for an equaliser as the players matched them and tried to get a second goal.
“I was trying to get them to tighten the game up and see things out but I will satisfy myself with the three points.”
The Links Park manager, who has tied up striker Leighton McIntosh on a short-term deal, is not getting fooled by Clyde’s points total or position at the foot of the table as he explained: “We have had Clyde watched and they are in a false position.
“They are a good side and having someone like Stephen O’Donnell in their midfield is a huge boost.
“We will go there and look to win as picking up points away from home would be a great help in our aim of staying in the top four this season.”
Goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie is available after a ban but Lucas Birnstingl could get a second outing as a trialist after impressing at Borough Briggs.
Declan O’Kane is free of suspension and Ross Graham returns from family commitments but Danny Cavanagh is an injury doubt and Stephen Day is abroad on work commitments.
Barry Ferguson, manager of bottom-of-the-table Clyde, is also demanding that his players start taking what they have been shown on the training pitch into games.
The Bully Wee went down 5-2 to Arbroath on Saturday and Ferguson is growing frustrated that the work put into practice is not being delivered in games.
He said: “The players work hard at training and we tell them what is expected. However, either there are mistakes or sendings-off that are killing us. There is only so much that we can do on the training ground.”
