Power cut affects parts of Broughty Ferry and Monifieth

A power cut left almost 1000 people without electricity in parts of Broughty Ferry and Monifieth on Monday.
Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) apologised to its customers for the “significant disruption” reported shortly after 10.40am.
The outage developed due to an electrical fault at the firm’s power unit on Edzell Street. A team of engineers managed to fix the problem and power was restored around 35 minutes later.
It is still not known how the fault developed but a spokeswoman said they were looking into it.
The incident comes less than two weeks after around 50 homes in the Reres Road area of Broughty Ferry were without electricity for almost three hours.
Scottish Hydro Electric later said an electrical fire was at fault.
