OAP receives oxygen after fire at sheltered housing

AN ELDERLY person had to be given oxygen after a pot of meat caught fire in a sheltered housing complex in Monifieth at the weekend.
Firefighters were called to the property in the Hometay complex on Saturday morning.
The fire was extinguished and the 99-year-old resident was treated at the scene.
Fire crews also attended a property in Strathmore Street, Broughty Ferry, on Saturday evening after a blaze broke out in a kitchen.
Crews from Balmossie and Kingsway attended shortly before 7pm following reports of people trapped but the sole male occupant had been evacuated before their arrival.
He was given oxygen therapy at the scene but required no further treatment.
