Senior SNP figures joined the family of Jimmy Halliday in Broughty Ferry yesterday to pay their last respects to the party’s former leader.
First Minister Alex Salmond had earlier paid tribute to Mr Halliday during First Minister’s questions at Holyrood.
Mr Salmond said: “Although many of us cannot be (at Mr Halliday’s funeral) in person, I am sure that all members on these benches indeed, members across the chamber will wish to send our thoughts and condolences to Jimmy’s wife, Olive, and the wider family.”
Labour leader Johann Lamont also sent her party’s condolences to Mr Halliday’s family.
