Family to sue Dundee City Council over man’s death
ByThe Courier Reporter
The family of a former Dundee City Council employee is suing the local authority over his death.
Peter Christie’s family claim in a lawsuit launched by Mr Christie just before he died that he breathed in asbestos while at work.
It is that, the family say, which caused the Ardler man to contract lung cancer. Peter started out at the council as an apprentice when he was 15 and was employed by the local authority for his entire working life.
The electrician believed he had breathed in a chunk of asbestos more than two decades ago while digging through some foundations.
A city council spokesman said: “We cannot comment on an ongoing legal matter.”
