Thieves have taken a metal bench from a north-east Fife beauty spot.
The seat, which was donated by Howe of Fife Rotary Club in the late 1990s, overlooked Birnie Loch, near Collessie. Police said it would have taken considerable effort to pull the bench from its mounting and carry it away.
An appeal has been issued for anyone with information about the theft, which occurred between June 8 and 10, to contact police.
PC Paul Buttercase, north-east Fife community safety officer, said: “The likelihood is this bench has been taken for scrap value. However, this has removed a well-used community resource, as the area is frequented by visitors, walkers and dog walkers.”
The bench was painted metallic green and has a metal plaque marking its donation.
