Kirkcaldy child incident ‘an innocent set of circumstances’

Police Scotland have confirmed there was nothing suspicious about an incident whereby a six-year-old girl was spoken to by a man in a car in Fife.
The confirmation comes just days after the force said it was not treating the matter as “a criminal matter”.
Officers were called to the Chapelhill area of Kirkcaldy last Monday after a parent reported that her six-year-old child had been invited into a car by a man.
Police have now confirmed the man was traced and there was nothing suspicious or sinister about the incident.
Local Community Inspector Alan Seath said: “I can confirm that this incident is not a criminal one and we are satisfied that this has been an innocent set of circumstances.
“The man involved has been contacted and the family of the young girl have been fully informed of the outcome of our investigation and are completely content.”
