Dundee residents have called for action at a busy junction after a pensioner was almost hit by an out-of-control car.
The incident occurred at a sharp bend on Harestane Road, and people living in the area have called for the council to take action before it’s “something more serious”.
Ian and Carole Ramsay live on Pitempton Road and it was the wall next to their home that was hit by the car.
The wall had been repaired two days before the incident following a series of collisions where cars had hit the wall.
Ian said the road is often busy with dog walkers and schoolchildren. He called for change before it is too late.
He said: “Sooner or later it’s going to be something more serious.
“What is it going to take before something is done? It’s getting worse. On another day the woman involved may have not been so lucky.”
Carole said she had been in contact with the council but felt they had not taken her complaints seriously.
She said: “The gist that I have got is that it was just another statistic to add to their collection, and it would be put forward and we would see what happens.
“But I don’t think we have the time to wait for that.”
Fiona Mann lives on Harestane Road opposite where the incident occurred, and demanded the council make changes.
She said: “There has to be something that can be done to monitor the speed, like CCTV cameras. People treat this road like a race track.”
Local Labour group leader Kevin Keenan has written to the council’s city development department following the near miss.
In his letter, he said: “Several constituents have contacted me to advise that yet another accident has happened with a car going out of control and damaging a wall and narrowly avoiding a pedestrian who was out walking her dog. Therefore, action must be taken.”
