Raith Rovers’ in-form striker must sit out Scottish Cup quarter-final
ByThe Courier Reporter
Raith Rovers will have to do without the services of striker John Baird this weekend as they eye a place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
The 28-year-old has scored three goals in his last four games for the Kirkcaldy club and netted for the third Saturday in a row in Rovers’ 4-2 loss at home to Falkirk on Saturday.
But he will be denied the chance to make it four as he is cup-tied for this weekend’s visit of St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
Baird will be ineligible after turning out as a late substitute for former club Partick Thistle in their fourth-round loss to Aberdeen in December.
However, defender Paul Watson, who has been missing since early December after breaking his foot, was named on the bench against Falkirk at the weekend and could come back into contention.
