Rescue crews rush to Huntingtower after walker falls near river
ByRichard Burdge
Fire and rescue crews were called to the outskirts of Perth after a woman dog walker was reported to have fallen 50 feet down an embankment.
The lunchtime incident was at Huntingtower near the River Almond.
Officers trained in water rescue techniques were among those who rushed to the scene.
Shortly before 2pm the firefighters were able to reach the woman and lead her to safety, apparently none the worse for her ordeal.
It was less than a week ago that the emergency services launched a massive search and rescue operation on the Tay at Perth.
On Tuesday the coastguard, fire service, ambulance crews, sniffer dogs, a helicopter and the Broughty Ferry-based RNLI lifeboat took part in the operation which led to the recovery of a woman’s body from the river.
