A Fife man appeared on petition before a sheriff at Kirkcaldy charged with murder, assault and assault to injury.
Jamie Anderson Wishart, 22, of Leven, made no plea or declaration on Wednesday.
The case was continued for further examination and the accused was remanded in custody.
The accused will make a second appearance in court on April 16.
Police sealed off a large part of Simon Crescent, Methilhill, on Tuesday after a 17-year-old, named locally as Connor Cleave, died in the street in the early hours of the morning.
Forensic officers joined a heavy police presence, sweeping the street for signs of evidence.
Officers have been carrying out additional patrols in order to provide reassurances to local residents.
