Kirkcaldy won’t forget the Forgotten Highlander in a hurry after author Alistair Urquhart visited the town’s Central Library.
The 92-year-old was given a standing ovation after he talked about his experiences as a Japanese prisoner of war, and how he developed his own strategies to help him survive the 3 years he was held captive.
Mr Urquhart discussed his book The Forgotten Highlander as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival and the event turned out to be one of the most memorable of the year.
Aadult services co-ordinator Yvonne Melville said: ”I have never seen such an amazing audience reaction to an author. To see the whole audience on their feet applauding Alistair was astounding.
”Now aged 92 it is amazing to hear him talk with such clarity about his captivity.”
