Three people were assaulted by two men in the Lochee area in separate incidents within minutes of each other, one in which a woman was robbed of her bag.
Residents and car drivers who might have heard or witnessed either assault in the Ancrum Road area between 11.45 and 11.55pm on Friday are being urged to come forward.
It is not thought any of the victims were injured.
In the first incident in Gibbs Lane, a 16-year-old boy wearing a blue jacket was approached by two men who demanded his mobile phone and assaulted him before the teenager managed to break free and run off.
A few minutes later in nearby Peel Street, a man and woman in their early thirties were assaulted, again by two men, who stole a red Vodafone bag from the woman and ran off.
A police spokesman confirmed they are linking the incidents.
