Raith Rovers signing Calum Elliot sorry over Livingston deal
ByThe Courier Reporter
Raith Rovers new signing Calum Elliot has apologised to Livingston after admitting he reneged on a deal to join the Almondvale club.
Livi were left furious after Rovers announced Elliot, 26, had penned a one-year deal at Stark’s Park after initially agreeing a return to West Lothian on a pre-contract in April.
Both clubs threatened to register the player with the Scottish Football League before Livingston reluctantly decided to step aside. But Elliot, who enjoyed a loan spell with Livi in 2008, insists he had good reasons for changing his mind.
“I know it doesn’t look. I did it for footballing reasons, and a few non-footballing reasons,” he said.
“I appreciated [Livingston’s] interest and there are a lot of good people at the club. For that reason, I’d like to apologise.”
