A 28-year-old man has appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court charged with the murder of Latvian national Aleksandrs Sokolovs.
Sergejs Samarin, of no fixed abode, made no plea or declaration to charges of murder and assault.
The case was committed for further examination and Samarin was remanded in custody.
He is expected to appear again on May 1.
The body of 29-year-old Mr Sokolovs was found in a property on Tummel Road in Glenrothes on April 13.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mr Sokolovs’ family said: “Aleksandrs was a very friendly person who loved to travel and experience different cultures.
“He was a loving son and brother and will be missed by all persons who knew him.”
