Locals have warned roadworks in Broughty Ferry could throw pupils’ exams into disarray. West Queen Street will close between Bayfield and Claypotts roads for a week from May 9 for resurfacing. Diversions are to be put in place to provide alternative routes for motorists. George Ferguson, chairman of Broughty Ferry Community Council, described the closure of the street as a “worry”. He added: “I really do feel for those who have to get into the school for exams. “It’s hard enough the pressure that they are under and they are likely already feeling rather stressed. “The last thing they need is to worry about making sure they can make it into the building or not.” Mr Ferguson said he also had worries the work could stop people coming through to Broughty Ferry. City development chief Will Dawson said he was confident the diversions in place would ensure a “minimal impact to everyone”.
